Warts in dogs
Immunocompromised dogs have a higher risk of developing warts, which are caused by a viral infection. The disease also frequently affects young dogs.
Warts, also known as papillomas, are usually harmless and can disappear on their own.
Dog warts are only contagious among themselves. Your dog cannot transmit its warts to you or to other animals.
Here are some tips for preventing and treating wart problems:
- As a preventive measure, avoid contact with young dogs with warts, and isolate your affected pet until the problem is resolved.
- A strong immune system is essential to prevent warts in your dog. Our advice: Multivitamin/probiotic treats rich in cranberry powder which Contribute to immune system health.
- Topically: To 250ml of water, add 10 drops of TEA TREE essential oil (available in most pharmacies): spray the coat and the dog's "sleeping spot."
Usual precautions for essential oils: perform
a patch test on a small area of skin and wait 48 hours before applying to a larger surface.
